Hagley Park is, without question, one of the most tranquil and beautiful places in central Ōtautahi.

Situated in the midst of this is the venerated Hagley Oval – a world class sporting venue, which dates back to 1867 and is widely considered to be the cornerstone of Canterbury and New Zealand cricket.

Overlooking the Oval is Hadlee Pavilion – the perfect location for events. During the day the Pavilion’s main lounge is flooded with natural light, while at night it literally shines. With excellent facilities and a mix of spaces to choose from, Hadlee Pavilion is sure to delight both cricket-fans and newcomers alike.

An oasis in the city, Hadlee Pavilion combines a picturesque park-setting with all the impact and appeal of a world-class sporting venue. Nestled amid the trees in Hagley Park, the Pavilion overlooks Canterbury's premiere cricket ground, the Hagley Oval – ensuring an incredible backdrop for events with anywhere between 10 and 200 guests.

During the day the Pavilion’s main lounge is flooded with natural light, while at night it literally shines. With excellent facilities and a mix of spaces to choose from, Hadlee Pavilion is sure to delight both cricket-fans and newcomers alike.

By Car

If you are attending a cricket events, there is no parking available at the Horticultural Hall. Metered parking is available on Riccarton Ave and in surrounding streets.

There is no public parking available at Hagley Oval. There are several parking buildings and public car parks throughout the centre city which are a short walk to Hagley Oval. You can view a car park map here.

For private events at the Pavilion, there is limited public parking on site. Parking is shared with the Horticultural Hall and space is subject to availability.

Between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, there is also a small public carpark located off Riccarton Ave, where parking is available for 180 minutes. This area is patrolled by wardens and available on a 'first in first served' basis.

We recommend car pooling or parking nearby, in well-lit streets. Contact Canterbury Cricket for information regarding domestic matches, and New Zealand Cricket for information regarding international matches.

Pedestrians

Pedestrian access is available from all points of entry. For your safety and the safety of others, please stay on footpaths and the side of roads.

By Bus

Metro Bus Stops are located on Riccarton Ave. Numbers 83 (Hei Hei), 23 (Hyde Park/Woolston), 81 (Lincoln) and 84 (Russley) stop nearby. Visit Metro website for timetables and more information.

Taxi & rideshare

Taxis are generally welcome to drop you off within the Hagley Oval carpark, though due to traffic congestion, we ask they do so on Riccarton Ave. If you require a taxi pick-up post event, we recommend booking this well in advance as taxis can be in high demand around events.

Mobility Parking

Mobility Parking is available in the main carpark closest to the Pavilion. Only vehicles with the appropriate Mobility Pass should park in these areas.

If you are attending cricket at Hagley Oval, always allow more time than you expect to get to and from the venue – and aim to arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the game. For most cricketing events, traffic congestion can be heavy – particularly during peak commuter travel times around the city centre.   • Event organisers, for hospitality or Pavilion-based ticket packages

Accessible tickets are reserved for guests with verified accessibility needs. Misuse may result in cancellation.

Essential companions

Visitors who require an essential companion or support person may request a companion ticket for both general admission and Hadlee Pavilion seating areas.

Approval is at the discretion of the event organiser, handled through Ticketek.

Wheelchair hire

A limited number of wheelchairs are available on match days to support access around the Oval and to the Hadlee Pavilion.

Lift access

The Hadlee Pavilion provides lift access to its upper-level lounges, hospitality areas, and viewing decks.

  • The Pavilion lift is available for all guests requiring mobility support.

  • Ground-level public areas around the Oval remain accessible via surrounding pathways.
Support animals

Support animals are welcome at Hagley Oval, including within the Hadlee Pavilion.

To ensure an enjoyable visit:

Identification
Support animals should be identifiable (vest, harness, or ID).

Supervision
Animals must remain under control, especially in busy Pavilion hospitality areas.

Seating
If you require additional space within the Pavilion for your support animal, please notify Ticketek when booking.

Water
Water bowls are available on request in the Pavilion and throughout the Oval.

Relief Areas
Staff can guide you to suitable nearby outdoor areas. You may exit and re-enter with a valid ticket scan.
