One NZ Stadium Night Market to launch for All Blacks test

The One New Zealand Stadium Night Market will be launched to mark the All Blacks’ return to Ōtautahi, Christchurch test v France on Saturday.

The night market, which will include a live DJ, the recently launched One NZ Field Club Bar along with a series of other activations, food stalls and festival-style toiles, has been unveiled to help cater for the 5000 additional fans in the North Stand towards the Hereford St end of the stadium.

The space will be exclusive for those in the North Stand and the Northwest corner.

Venues Ōtautahi Chief Executive Caroline Harvie-Teare said they needed to extend the stadium’s offerings due to the extended capacity at the stadium.

“It is an exciting opportunity to launch the Night Market for such a momentous occasion. The return of the All Blacks to Ōtautahi, Christchurch is something we’ve been waiting for a long time,” she said.

“With an additional 5000 fans, we can’t just push everyone into the concourse as it’s not made for such volume. Ensuring everyone has an exceptional experience is important to us. The Night Market has given us an opportunity to create a unique offering in the outdoor area for the fans in our temporary stand.”

The Night Market will include One NZ Stadium favourites like Glizzy’s Hotdogs and Bacon Brothers, along with Mojo Coffee, Lil Orbs Donuts, Fish and Chips, King Foo Dumplings, and the One NZ Field Club bar, which was launched at the One NZ Warriors game.

Fans in the Northern Stand and the northwest corner will be able to access the full stadium concourse for the first hour after gates open.

“We know our guests love the concourse experience so we want to make it available as much as we can. With gates opening at 5pm, there’s an opportunity to open the wider concourse for that first hour until more people enter the stadium. It is a way to allow people to experience as much of the stadium as possible without compromising on the safety and overloading our vendors.”

The All Blacks’ test is the first event to have the temporary grandstand installed. Construction started on Monday and is progressing on target.

The temporary stand includes sections 142 to 145, while the northwest corner is sections 300 to 302.

The South Stand and University of Canterbury East Stand will operate as usual for the match with offerings including Bacon Brothers, Black Burger, Ziggy Oaks, Korea House Fried Chicken, Arbour Woodfired Pizza, Little Fish Co, Fush, Sushi, Sheffield Pies, The Dairy, The Tuck Shop, Smokey T’s, Glizzy’s Hotdogs, Pedro’s House of Lamb, The Local and Craft Bar.

The West Stand features hospitality sections the Ōtautahi Lounge, Premium Reserves, The Platform, Suites, and New Zealand Rugby’s The Shed on Level 3.
